"La base du succès. H. Ernemann, 9 Cité Trévise, Paris. Le projecteur acier Impérator est une merveille de précision. Voici ses caractéristiques : fixité absolue, aucun scintillement, marche silencieuse, usure nulle des films, solidité excetionnelle, inusable, économique, toutes garanties contre l'incendie" (Le Courrier cinématographique, 31 août 1912).
"The Ernemann is still the undisputed leader among theatre machines, today as in 1906, when it first made its appearance. Its first model created a sensation at the time and marked a turning point in cinematographic technics, which even now is influenced by it. [...] The Maltese cross, which runs in an oil bath, as well as all cog and bevel wheels, made by a special process, consist of best hard steel and are completely enclosed and thus protected from damage and wear due to film dust. Uninterrupted automatic lubrication reduces wear to a minimum if there be any wear at all. The entire mechanism is lubricated from centrally arranged oil holes. All parts subject to wear and all shafts are made from best hard steel, while the bearings of the shafts consist of tough phosphor bronze. Standardization of all parts, particulary of those subjected to wear, ensures easy interchangeability without reducing precision. The optical centre is fixed, i.e., the lens and the gate mask aperture do not move when the picture is masked. [...]" (Walturdaw, The House of Cinema, Londres, Walturdaw, 1930, p. 8-23).
