"The Filmo Auto Load is a camera you'll be proud to carry and use anywhere. For it has been given a beautiful appareance by a leading industrial stylist... an external design that suggests the camera's superb craftsmanship. The Auto Load is precision-built by Bell & Howell, makers of Hollywood's professional motion picture equipment, to produce the finest personal movies with a minimum of effort. Its basic mechanism is thoroughly time-proved, having been taken from the Filmo 141 Camera which has delighted all who have used it. But not only does the Auto Load offer new beauty of line and surface... It provides new operating advantages, too. The Auto Load is easy to carry, for it weighs only 2 pounds 7 1/2 ounces [...]. To load, simply slide in a pre-threaded film magazine and close the door. The shutter on the film magazine, which prevents fogging a single frame even when film is interchanged in mid-reel, is opened automatically, in this camera, when the film is slid in, and is closed automatically when the film is withdrawn. You can re-load while the camera is on a tripod, too, for the door is at the rear. An exposure guide, built into the Auto Load, gives readings for both color and black and white film... tells just how to set the lens "light valve" for any combination of subject, brilliance of daylight, hour, and season. The Auto Load view finder is fully enclosed within the camera, where it is safe from damage. Of the "positive" type, it eliminates eye-parallax, common cause of "amputated" poorly composed pictures. And it gives an exceptionally brilliant image - 2 1/2 times as bright as that of Filmo 141. You've a choice of two speed ranges, one with four operating speeds including half speed (8 frames per second), the other with five speeds including slow motion speed (64 frames per second). Both ranges include intermediate speeds, which are really essential for filming fast action such as sporting events, and for scenes from automobiles and trains. A single-frame exposure control permits making animated titles, maps, charts, diagrams, cartoons, and scenes in which inanimate objects move as though alive. [...] Lenses are instantly interchangeable. Telephoto lenses to bring distant objects close, and wide-angle lenses for close quarters, are available" (Presenting... the Filmo 16 mm Auto Load Motion Picture Camera, Chicago, Bell & Howell, s.d.).
