"83.00 : Neislon-Hordell Special Effects Camera. This camera has been designed specifically for animation and special effects work and it incorporates a number of unique features. It is a dual-gauge camera with easily interchangeable components making it capable of accepting 16 mm or 35 mm film. Only one gauge components supplied with basic stand. It is fitted with fixed pin registration. A built-in printed circuit motor enables it to be run single frame or continuously. When run continuously it will run at 30, 60, 120, 180, 240, 500, 750, or 1500 frames per minute. The 30 fpm speed has a fast pulldown which saves considerable time when shooting long runs. For example 100 feet of 35 mm film without the fast pulldown would take 53 minutes 20 secondes to shoot. With the fast pulldown it takes only 40 minutes. The motor and camera will of course run in either direction. [...] The shutter is a 170° fading shutter. Fades and dissolves are made electronically of any lenght from 4 to 999 frames up to a speed of 240 fpm. At higher speeds electronic fades and dissolves may be any lenght from 16 to 999 frames. A fade curve is incorporated plus 5 different dissolve curves, as standard. [...] Viewing is via a mirror or a beamsplitter inserted between the lens and the gate, and operated from the console. When the mirror is inserted, light to the gate is cut off. When the beamsplitter is inserted, viewing through the lens is possible while shooting. [...] One 35 mm or 16 mm 400 foot magazine is supplied. Additional 35 mm and 16 mm magazines are available with capacities of 400 feet (120 m.), 1000 feet (300 m.), and 1200 feet (360 m). A 400 foot (120 m) bipack magazine is available. This consists of the lower two chambers only, on top of which can be fitted a standard 400 foot (120 m) magazine" (Neilson-Hordell Limited Animation Stand Model NH 213, Staines, Neilson-Hordell, 1978).
