1936 : la Western Electric crée "All Technical Products Company" dont le nom est changé en décembre 1937 en Altec Service Corporation. 1941 : Altec Service Corporation rachète Lansing Manufacturing Company de James B. Lansing. Création de Altec Lansing Corporation. 1945 : Altec Lansing introduit "The Voic of The Theatre". Appareil provenant de la collection Jean-Pierre Verscheure: "Le modèle A7 a été introduit par Altec Lansing en 1955. Modèle standardisé par le "Research Council of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences", se composant d'un baffle de type bass reflex modèle H-825 ainsi que d'un haut-parleur pour la reproduction des hautes fréquences modèle H-811 et de son moteur à chambre de compression type 802. Le haut-parleur pour la reproduction des basses fréquences est du type 416 et le cross over pour la séparation des fréquences hautes et basses est du type N-801" (J.P. Verscheure).

"Altec 811 B Sectoral Horn. Designed specifically for two-way sound systems, the Altec 811 B Sectoral Horn has a frequency cutoff of 800 cycles, and should be installed in conjunction with a low-frequency speaker such as the Altec 414 A, 416 A or 515 B. The Altec 802 D or 806 A Driver will provide the 811 B Horn with excellent high-frequency reproduction from 800 to 22 000 cylces. The sound distribution pattern is 90-degrees horizontally and 40-degrees vertically. An Altec N-800D Network should be included in the system as a protective measure to prevent low frequencies from damaging the high frequency driver" (Sectoral Horns, New York, Altec, s.d.).

The quality is the same as the famous Voice of the Theatre systems used in first-run houses all over the world. Its compact size will prove an additional advantage in constricted backstage areas. Its shipping weight of only 180 pounds means even lower investment due to the low shipping costs. The A-7 Speaker System is the smallest of the famous Voice of the Theatre systems. Compactness and large power capacity permit the use of this system in small to medium sized auditoriums, night clubs, meeting halls, and similar type rooms. [...] The complete A-7 system has a smooth effectie frequency range from 35 to 22 000 cycles and is fully capable of reproducing all of the sounds and dynamic range within the normal limits of human hearing.
