"Now you can break new ground in creativity and productivity with the Arriflex 435 Xtreme, the most advanced 35mm MOS camera ARRI has ever created. It's capable of faster and smoother ramps from 0.1 to 150 fps and precision motion control with the ARRIMOTION System. Lens motor electronics and an optional radio modem (URM) are integrated for the freedom of wireless lens and camera control, and the ARRI Lens Data System is part of the Xtreme package. For features, commercials, music videos, Steadicam, special effects or motion control work, this is one camera that's ready today to take it to the extreme. "Formé d'un dispositif à cinq articulations sur roulement à billes, le double mécanisme griffes/contre-griffes entraîne et bloque le film dans les deux rangées de perforations de telle sorte que la normalisation de position d'image pour le tirage optique soit respectée entre 1 et 130 images par seconde et cela aussi bien en marche avant qu'en marche arrière. Une fréquence d'images quelconque entre ces deux valeurs (1 à 130 i/s) peut être stabilisée à un millième d'image par seconde près grâce à un quartz, aussi bien que sur quelques vitesses standardisées (24, 25, 29, 97 et 30 images par seconde). L'obturateur variable peut être réglé entre 15 et 180° avec des pas crantés de 15° en 15° et deux positions standardisées (144° et 172,8°). En option il peut être remplacé par un obturateur contrôlé électroniquement donnant, entre 11 et 180°, des ouvertures et fermetures progressives avec la caméra en marche. Un tableau de commande à cristaux liquides (LCD) situé sur le côté gauche de la caméra permet un contrôle immédiat de tous les réglages : vitesse, métrage du film, angle d'ouverture de l'obturateur, chiffrage time code avec user bits et temps d'exposition, état de charge des batteries avec alarme, indicateur de fin de film et de défilement non synchrone de la caméra. Plusieurs connecteurs donnent de vastes possibilités en programmation Motion Control" (Le Technicien du film & vidéo, octobre 1994, n° 439, p. 16-17).

"Since the ARRIFLEX 435 camera first saw the light of day in 1995, it has become the workhorse of the film industry, the golden standard for MOS camera work. Over 1200 cameras were sold worldwide, and 435 cameras can be seen in use in LA, Toronto, London and Berlin, from the deserts of Dubai to the wide Chinese landscapes, from Africa to Australia. Based on the original 435 design, ARRI has continuously updated the camera to add versatility and features, culminating now in the 435 Xtreme.
