"H.S. 300, 35 mm. High Speed Cine Camera. A precision High Speed Camera. Built to the rigid requirements of the laboratory, it is capable of speeds up to 275 frames per second. The film motion mechanism is designed to pull the film down, frame by frame, with a rate of acceleration that imposes the minimum strain on the perforations. During the exposure periods the film is held in position by four pilot pins. The tips of the pilot pins and pull-down claws are so designed that before one set leaves the perforations, the other set is entering. Thus the film is controlled during the entire run. At all speeds the picture is steady. When the camera is used for model shots or slow-motion shots, etc., the resulting negative is indistinguishable for quality from negatives made on standard studio cameras at normal speeds. High speed sequences can therefore be "cut in" to normal negatives, with no change in quality. To enable the camera to be used to the full advantage in technical and scientific work, the gate aperture is made to the original "silent" dimensions. When used for sound films the extra area is masked off automatically during printing. The optical system consists of matched pairs of lenses, each pair mounted on an individual panel. One lens of each pair is for taking, the other lens is for viewing, and is automatically corrected for parallax at every point of focus. [...] the suhutter is a double-segment half-speed type, and is ajustable from the equivalent of 170° down to 10°. [...] The camera drive is by motor. Two motors and a two-speed gearbox cover the entire range from 24 up to 275 pictures per second.
